Neighboring cities and easy access to I-77 bring big-box shopping, additional dining and entertainment to within a 15 to 45 minute drive – depending on if you travel to New Philadelphia or Canton – home of the Football Hall of Fame.

Home-cooking favorites can be found coming out of the Amish and Swiss kitchens at Dutch Valley Restaurant and Beachy’s Country Chalet, which  are always available for family dinners or a business lunch. Whatever you’re looking for, Sugarcreek has it.

It has consistently ranked as one of the top intuitions in the state of Ohio and received numerous excellent academic ratings for its K -12  education and has recently added preschool to that line up. There are many ways your child can  build self-esteem and character in the classroom as well as in any of the  numerous extra curricular activities that  are offered though the school and in  our community.


Our churches are a part of the backbone of our community. You’ll find that Sugarcreek offers its residents a number of choices both in and outside of town.  No matter your background or beliefs, you are welcome here and encouraged to check out some of the great things that our churches do.

Many of them provide help to local families in need, do mission  work on national efforts like Hurricane  Katrina  Relief and some take their mission abroad to third-world countries to help build schools and provide the simple necessities of food, water and  shelter to those without.


Like the outdoors?    Sugarcreek and its surrounding area is great for nature enthusiasts as well as those who just  like to get out and catch a little fresh air.  Within Sugarcreek you will find three parks with toys for younger children, baseball fields, softball fields, basketball courts and an all-weather community track for walking or running at the Garaway Athletic Field Complex. Willandale Golf Course is a great place to golf and nearby Winklepleck Grove is a great place for a picnic.

Within driving distance you’ll find Atwood Lake and all that it has to offer – fishing, boating, golf, etc. The Norma Johnson Center between Dover and Sugarcreek offers outdoor enthusiasts trails for hiking or mountain biking, as well as a Butterfly Sanctuary and 303 acres of nature in all its splendor. There are various historical land marks  and scenic byways throughout Tuscarawas County, as well a portion of the Ohio & Erie Canal Way Coalition’s Towpath Trail, which enters Tuscarawas County near Bolivar and winds its way south with a pedestrian and equestrian trail.
